History

Tékkil was founded to address an unmet need that many in the Senegalese Diaspora, particularly in the U.S., face as they try to achieve professional success. There are multiple online networks but none are specifically dedicated to propagating the knowledge and fostering the connections that help people go from where they are in their careers today to where they want to get to.

Senegalese Diaspora refers to those who emigrated from Senegal and/or are of Senegalese descent, regardless of citizenship status.

Our Name

Tékkil serves many meanings in the Wolof language. At the surface level, its root word tékki means ‘translate’, but in a much wider sense, it has a deeper meaning of ‘give purpose’. We decided to take on the word in its actionable form: tékkil. The word resonates with us and our mission to empower and advance Senegalese Diaspora professionals.

Why Tékkil?

Tékkil was created to serve as a platform for professionals in the Senegalese Diaspora to interact, exchange ideas, and support the ever-growing community as a whole. We are all uniquely-connected by having a strong Senegalese heritage while living and working abroad.

If you or someone you know relates to this very much. You’re not alone and we’ve decided to do something about it. Tékkil is a community for people like you -- professionals and entrepreneurs wanting to connect with like-minded individuals and potentially make an impact in a meaningful way.

We are thrilled to have found you and can’t wait for you to join us.
